Supplements
I admittedly have not been a huge fan of supplements. We spend too much money on them and the return on our investment is usually not as good as we think. In fact, because of the low digestive vitality of so many of my patients, many people add toxicity to their system through poor supplementation. Don’t be one of them. You need high standards in production.
I take a few supplements myself and recommend that you do too. I think I owe it to you to recommend supplements that are the highest standard at the absolute best price. Rejuvenation Science is the company that does the best job at this. I have met Howard Simon, the president, and know that he has done his due diligence with every product I recommend. Do not underestimate the potential for low production standards in companies that make our food and supplements!
Please note that through purchasing here you support my practice through a modest commission. Thank you!
Here’s a look at recommended supplements one by one:
Multivitamin. The wrong multivitamin causes more harm than good. If you are going to take a multivitamin it must be one of very high quality that is easy to digest and metabolize. Otherwise I would not take one. My favorite multivitamin, Maximum Vitality from Rejuvenation Science, was rated in the top 1% of 1600 vitamins in an independent study. It easily dissolves in water. Take the recommended dosage each day. Click here for Rejuvenation Science site.
Krill Oil. This is the essential fatty acid I recommend and it is a critical supplement. Take 1000mg daily. Click here for Rejuvenation Science site.
Vitamin D. This is an important supplement from a weight loss standpoint. I recommend you take 5000 units a day. Click here for Rejuvenation Science site.
Vitamin C (Camu camu). The camu camu fruit from the amazon is an amazing supplement that has effects on mood as well as immunity. Containing more vitamin C than any other plant on earth, it is far superior to the vitamin C made in a laboratory. Highly recommended. Look for “Camu camu” on the Amazon herb site. Probiotics. Find my recommended human source probiotic at Rejuvenation Science. Click here for Rejuvenation Science site.
Intestinal cleansing (with liver and bile stimulation). I recommend Fiberzon in the mint form from Amazon Herbs. Once scoop mixed vigorously in water in the morning. The importance of good colon health for weight loss cannot be underestimated. Highly recommended. Click here for Amazon Herb site.
Herbal Teas, Spices and Sea Vegetables
I strongly recommend that my patients incorporate high-grade herbal teas, spices and sea vegetables into their daily dietary regimen. Even western science is finding these items are potent anti-oxidants as well as highly anti-inflammatory. Although you can some fairly decent teas (e.g. Traditional Medicinals or Yogi Tea) at you natural food store, they are way too expensive and do not have the potency of other high-quality sources. I buy all my herbs, spices, chlorella and sea vegetables from Mountain Rose Herbs. Click on the Mountain Rose banner below:
Here are some teas and spices from Mountain Rose I recommend you keep in your cabinet. I recommend you get the whole seed and grind them up in a spice or coffee grinder right before using them (assuming of course you are not using them whole, as you would in fermented foods).
Teas
- Burdock root: a powerful cleanser for the body, especially the liver. Has been called a cure for “all things excess.” Put 1-3 tsps in the bottom of a cup and pour over boiling water. Because this herb sinks to the bottom, you do not have to strain it. Make a 2nd or even 3rd infusion if you like.
- Nettle leaf: a kidney tonic, noted in Chinese medicine to keep hair from graying. This is a cleanser, blood builder, and good all around tea. I often mix it with other teas (e.g. burdock, spearmint or Genmaicha) and drink a lot of it.
- Women’s Balancing Tea: A nice blend for women of all ages.
- Happy Man: A nice blend for men. Helps vitality and has several herbs that help the prostate. Because these are roots, it need to be simmered gently for 15 -30 minutes to brew.
- Peppermint and/or Spearmint: Both are cleansing for the liver and good after meals. Peppermint is cooling, Spearmint is more warming. Use according to where your body temperature tends to run. Maybe use more spearmint in the winter. Or mix them.
- Citrus Peel (lemon, orange, or grapefruit): potent digestive aids, particularly good for those who struggle with weight. You can also make your own from the zest of organic citrus.
- Gemaicha: A classic Japanese green tea with toasted rice. Delicious from Mountain Rose!
- Ancient Forest Tea: For those who like the traditional taste of tea, this is a unique amber tea that is delicious and full of anti-oxidants.
- Ginger root: Very warming but excellent for those who tend to run cool. Anti-inflammatory.
