Holistic Medicine
“Don’t just treat part of the body, for the part can never be well unless the whole is well.” – Socrates
What is holistic medicine and how does Dr. Branch practice it?
Dr. Branch believes patients are best served through seeing multiple medical viewpoints at once. For example, conventional medicine bases treatment on tests, mainly lab tests and imaging studies. It is a concrete, physical-level medicine. If you cannot see it on a test, no disease exists.
Chinese medicine takes a completely different viewpoint. The Chinese medicine practitioner sees things from the point of view of energy balance. The yin cool, watery energy should be in balance with the yang hot, fiery energy. If one’s energy is not balanced, then symptoms start to appear. Eventually changes occur on the physical plane that western lab tests and studies can detect. No contradiction exists between western medicine and Chinese medicine. They are simply two different viewpoints on the same thing.
Dr. Branch uses a Digimeridian measurement to make exact assessments from a Chinese medicine perspective. By measuring acupuncture points on the fingers and toes, the Digimeridian machine measures the energetic balance in the body, allowing for a precise understanding of where the deeper energetic imbalances lie.
Classical homeopathy takes still another viewpoint. (See The Homeopathic Process) Homeopathy understands disease as energy mis-tunement. It is not the energy mis-tunement of Chinese medicine. Classical homeopathy treats an underlying energy pattern homeopaths call a “state,” if I see a wavy, back and forth movement in the grass, I recognize the energy pattern of a snake even before I see the snake. Each of us has our own peculiar “energy imprint.” When we get out of balance and become sick this energy imprint determines how we become sick. Classical homeopathy treats disease by treating and freeing a patient from his underlying energy imprint with a homeopathic remedy.
